A Family Bakery in the Heart of Old Lisbon

Tucked into a quiet street in Alfama — Lisbon's oldest and most beloved neighbourhood — Pastelaria Alfama Doce is a family-run pastry shop that has made itself a home among the cobblestones. It is a small bakery away from the tourist circuits, in a quaint neighbourhood that, as one visitor put it, "smells like Portugal."

Behind the counter is a passionate owner who greets every customer with warmth — and, as often as not, in their own language. Fluent in four or more languages, she has made the shop a welcoming place for locals and visitors alike. Her son works front-of-house, and together they bring the kind of care to every order that keeps people coming back — and sending their friends.
